The Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard is the next hype around the book community. Although the Red Queen is set to be released on February 10th of this year, many film productions couldn’t wait to grab their hands on film rights for this newest, spectacular YA Fantasy/Dystopia novel.
Here’s a quick synopsis of the Red Queen:
The poverty stricken Reds are commoners, living under the rule of the Silvers, elite warriors with god-like powers.
To Mare Barrow, a 17-year-old Red girl from The Stilts, it looks like nothing will ever change.
Mare finds herself working in the Silver Palace, at the centre of
those she hates the most. She quickly discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy Silver control.
But power is a dangerous game. And in this world divided by blood, who will win?
I’ve been keeping my eye on this baby ever since the cover was released. I mean, just look at the gorgeous cover! It’s simplistic, but yet the plain white background draws readers in with the silver crown and the dripping blood. And it’s not only the cover that wants me to run to the bookstore to grab the book right this instance, it’s also the synopsis too. While the synopsis does sound a bit predictable, it does make me question whether it’s one of those books that seem predictable but it’s actually not. And I just LOVE those kind of books because it’s just a shocking surprise!
