Maika Monroe Talks About Her Role in The 5th Wave

The former It Follow star, Maika Monroe, talks about her role in the latest YA book-to-movie adaptation, The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. Monroe will be starring as Ringer along with Chloe Moertz, former star of If I Stay by Gayle Forman, as Cassie Sullivan.

The novel follows a 16 year-old girl named, Cassie Sullivan trying to survive in a time where there are waves of aliens destroying humankind to invade Earth. USA Today has claimed the novel to be “a modern sci-fi masterpiece” according to The Fifth Wave website.

  1. Yay I’m glad she had black hair for the movie, that’ll make her look more like Ringer even though she didn’t have the asian look. I think she’ll do good, I’m so excited about this movie

    Really disappointed that Ringer won’t be played by an Asian actress. hate that they made her white.

  4. It’s definitely a stereotypical issue in the Hollywood industry unfortunately. :\ They aren’t doing it with this movie, but I’m glad people are raising awareness about this issue with the Mulan live action movie. -Ellen

    Did the nobody working on this movie bother to read the books!? Ringer is Asian/Apache. I think everyone should be offended by this casting choice. Hollywood has a history of casting white actors/actresses as Asian, and it needs to stop.
